New!
- Meijin Brand Black Belts!
Designed
by our own staff and manufactured exclusively for our company, these belts
feature 10 lines of precise stitching, laminated cotton/felt core, covered
by the highest quality 100% cotton or satin cover. The width is 1.75 inches. They are designed for
professional use and they take embroidery beautifully.
Satin & Cotton Black Belts $25 - $29 each.
Important - Things to remember when you order a custom embroidered belt:
1. While we make every effort to standardize belt length by size, as they are hand made they can vary slightly in length.
2. For English letters please allow ¾” space per letter. We usually embroider all upper case characters in the Arial Bold typeface embroidered vertically.
3. To embroider your name we use the Japanese katakana phonetic script to translate its most common English pronunciation, (there may be more than one correct way to write your name in katakana). If there is a special way to pronounce your name, please call us so that we can translate it perfectly by hearing it spoken.
4. We usually embroider the shorter embroidery design on the (manufacturer’s) label side, and the longer design on the other.
5. In the absence of your precise instructions, we will do our best to create a balanced and pleasing design following the pattern most popular with the majority of our customers.
6. Some customers like us to remove the manufacturer’s label ($2 charge) if they have two lines of embroidery they wish to balance exactly. In this case we need to know how much space to leave between the ends of the belt and the bottom of the embroidery designs.
7. Custom embroidered belts and uniform are NOT RETURNABLE

Need
embroidery?
We
can embroider your name and style, almost anything in fact, and we embroider
right through the belt so no stitching obscures the design. We sew with
"gyosho" style Japanese calligraphy which is very beautiful and
unique to our company. Embroidered belts start at around $20.

Although all makers use the same size system for belts there are in fact
significant differences between one maker's "size 5" and another's.
To be safe, when you order a new belt from us measure an old
one that fits you well, then call to let us know exactly how
long it is in inches or centimeters. And don't forget, if you
are planning to have a lot of embroidery on your belt you should
allow extra length to accommodate it. Nothing looks worse than
beautiful embroidery that disappears into the belt knot.

The
traditional karate belt may not look very much but a great deal actually
goes into its manufacture. The belt is sewn with eight
or more lines of stitching along its
entire length using a single needle machine, and the ends closed creating
a flexible and very strong belt. If it is well constructed it will
not show
a tendency to twist when it is folded (caused by stitching of unequal tension
and/or lines of stitching unequally spaced), and will stay secured.
Wide and super wide belts make great presents when embroidered but
are probably best kept
for
use on special occasions. Their width and thickness make them come undone
easily.
